What are the shipping costs?

UK: £5.50 for a single book, plus £2.00 per book for each additional book – 48 Hour Tracked Shipping

Please note that for normal titles, a maximum of 2 books can be ordered together with an international shipping address due to weight restrictions.
For certain, heavier titles, there will be an additional £2 shipping charge for international orders, and we will only be able to ship 1 book at a time.

Pre-orders are all shipped individually.

What is the subscription structure?

Our subscription is a quarterly subscription, with payment taken once every three months. Each quarter subscribers will receive a signed & numbered exclusive limited edition book, in addition to other perks. Once subscribed, the subscription will carry on indefinitely until you cancel your subscription, or we cancel it for you due to lack of payment.

How much does a subscription cost?

Our subscription is £24.99/quarter, plus shipping. Please note we do not charge VAT, and any VAT charges or import fees are the customer’s responsibility.

What type of books will be in the Inkstone Subscription?

The books we include in the subscription will be the UK first edition, first printing of a book, and will have features that are exclusive to Inkstone Books. We aim to offer an exclusive finish for each book, such as sprayed edges or a different cover. We include fantasy and science-fiction books, generally aimed towards adult readers with the occasional YA pick.

The subscription will only include newly released books. Books will be featured in months as close to their publication date as possible – some will be shipped earlier than publication.

How many books per year will I get?

Subscribers will receive up to 4 books per calendar year, depending on when their subscription starts – 1 each quarter. Your subscription will also entitle you to early access for our other special editions that will be available to purchase, so you can order as many special editions as you want!

When will the quarterly books be announced?

Our subscription picks will be revealed in the quarter before the book is due to be our pick, to make sure all subscribers have enough time to decide if they want to receive the book.

Can I skip a book if I don’t want to receive it?

Yes! Subscribers can skip 1 book a year without losing any of their perks or their subscription. Our subscription picks will be revealed in the quarter before the book is due to be our pick, to make sure all subscribers have enough time to decide if they want to receive the book. The yearly skip is tracked from a subscriber’s initial quarter – ie. if a subscribers signed up in Q3 2023, used their skip for Q1 2024, their next skip would be available starting Q3 2024.

What are the other membership benefits?

Subscribers will receive 10% off across our entire site (with the exception of subscription fees), and will also receive early access to our other special edition books.

Can I purchase a subscription book without a subscription?

The books we pick for the subscription will only initially be available via a subscription. If we have any left over after fulfilling all subscriber’s orders, they will be available as single purchases.

When are subscriptions charged?

If you are placing an order to sign up for the subscription, payment will be taken at the time of ordering. Future payments will be taken the first day of each quarter – ie. January 1st, April 1st, July 1st and October.

What happens if my card is declined?

If your card is declined while trying to charge for your renewal, we’ll get in touch with you and provide an opportunity to update your card details. If we don’t hear from you within a week, your subscription will be suspended, and if the month rolls over without a response, it will be cancelled.

When are other orders charged?

If your order is an in-stock, published book, your order will be charged when you place it. If your order is for a pre-order, you will not be charged until the book is released and ready for shipping.

When will my book ship?

Subscription books will ship as close to publication day as possible, within the quarter that they are our featured book. An order for an in-stock item will ship within 2-3 days if your address is in the UK, or 3-4 days if it’s an international order. A pre-order will ship after the book has been released, as close to publication as possible.

How do I change my address for an order I’ve paid for?

Please email us at [email protected] and we can do that for you. If you change your address in your account, this will not carry over to any orders you have paid for, only future orders.

Once your order has shipped we cannot change your address and you may be charged additional shipping to have it sent to your correct address.

I’ve changed my mind, can I have a refund?

If you have ordered a subscription and this has not yet shipped, then we can usually cancel and refund this for you. Please note that cancelling a subscription does not cancel a prior renewal or initial order – if you decide to cancel your subscription and do not want the book associated with your most recent charge, please email us. When you cancel your subscription, your subscription status will be changed to ‘Pending Cancellataion’ until the end of that quarter – your membership perks will still be active for the duration of the quarter, and should you change your mind about cancelling, you can email us to reactivate your subscription as long as your subscription is still ‘Pending Cancellation’.

If you have a pre-order, we can generally cancel it for you – as we don’t take payment until we ship, there won’t be a refund.

If you have ordered an in-stock item, as long as your order hasn’t yet shipped, we can usually refund it for you.

One of my items arrived damaged, can I get a replacement?

If you receive an item that is damaged, we’ll do what we can to replace or refund it for you. Please email us at [email protected] with your name, account information, and pictures of the damage. If the book falls within our damaged criteria, we’ll work with you to issue a replacement, or issue a refund if we’re unable to replace it. Please review our damages page for more information.

VAT and Customs Fees

Any local taxes, import fees, etc. are the responsibility of the customer, and we will not reimburse or be responsible for paying any fees.
